Danielle Noel

Danielle Noel does not draw her decks so much as gather them, layering imagery, textures, botanicals and symbols by hand until a card appears.

Danielle Noel is the Canadian artist behind the Starchild Tarot. With The Moonchild Tarot she turns her gaze inward, to the psyche, soul memory and the symbolism of the Moon. She works through what she calls a sacred collage process, assembling each of the 81 cards by hand, three more than the traditional 78, with no artificial intelligence used anywhere. The deck is loosely rooted in the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition and comes with a guidebook she wrote herself, drawing gently on Gnostic wisdom and written to be read slowly.

The Shadow Work Edition is the deck's darker twin. Danielle carried it in her mind from the moment the first deck was finished. It arrives in muted aubergine with matte gold edges and a full-colour guidebook of spreads and rituals for sitting with what you would rather not see. The two editions are companions rather than alternatives, which is why we also offer them as a pair.

Both editions are printed on 400gsm card with gold foil on the backs and gilded edges, the original in its two-piece rose-petal box. We send them from the UK.

How to choose between them

What is the difference between the two Moonchild editions?
The White and Gold Edition is the original, made to offer gentle clarity at an inner threshold. The Shadow Work Edition is its darker companion, 81 cards in muted aubergine with a guidebook of spreads and rituals for shadow work. They are made to sit together, which is why the pair exists.
Is the Moonchild Tarot made with AI?
No. Every card is Danielle Noel's own hand-assembled collage. No artificial intelligence has been used.
Is this a good first tarot deck?
It can be, if you are drawn to its imagery. It is loosely rooted in the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition with three extra cards. Its guidebook is written to be read slowly. If you would rather have the keywords printed on the cards, the Lucid Dreams Beginners Tarot is the easier start.
