ST SOLEIL

ST SOLEIL is an independent imprint that publishes slowly and prints in small editions. Everything it releases is conceived, written and designed in house.

ST SOLEIL was founded in 2016 by Britta. The imprint describes its own way of working in a line we would not improve on: published slowly, printed in small editions. It conceives, writes, designs and publishes everything it releases. Lucid Dreams Beginners Tarot was first created in 2016, the year the imprint began, as handmade collage made years before AI image generation existed, from vintage imagery, public domain art of the fifteenth to nineteenth centuries and St Soleil's own design work.

It is the deck we point first readers to. Every card carries its keywords in print, upright and reversed, with astrological, zodiac and elemental keys alongside, so you can lay a spread and read it without stopping to look anything up. A 200-page pocket guidebook comes in the keepsake box. Now in its fourth edition, it comes in Beige and in Black Eclipse, the same deck in two moods, on soft-touch linen card with matte gold edges and gold foil on both faces.

The journals are the same philosophy in a different form: 680 pages of 100gsm matte paper, sewn into linen hardcovers with gold foil and champagne gilded edges, printed with soy inks on FSC certified stock. We hold the decks and the journals together here in the UK.

Our reviews of their work

How to choose between them

Beige or Black Eclipse?
They are identical in structure, keywords and guidebook. Choose on the artwork you would rather sit with: Beige for the lighter palette, Black Eclipse for the darker one.
Are the keywords easy to read?
They are printed in low-contrast gold foil, which is beautiful in hand but not ideal if you have difficulty with small or faint text.
Is the artwork made with AI?
No. The collage was made by hand in 2016, before AI image generation existed. ST SOLEIL uses no AI-generated artwork.
